A Walk in the Woods

Out in back of the house, a little ways beyond the treeline is a trail that runs through some adjoining parkland.  We went for a walk over the weekend with Lexi and here are a few pictures.

Most of the section of the trail we walked was relatively flat, with a few steeper hills here and there.

It followed along the edge of Bull Run and it seemed that most of the trail was elevated quite a ways above the level of the water.  It's kind of hard to tell from this picture, but it was a pretty steep drop down to the creek.

There was a turn off from the tail that led down a bit closer to the water.

We think this is one of the points the Civil War troops tried to use to ford the creek as it was the only place we came across that seemed like you could easily get down to the water.

Lexi especially like sitting here watching the water flow.

We passed this tree on the way back home that had been carved all around the trunk.  I can't help but wonder if Jose and Julia are still together...

Beautiful. Jenny would you mind if I used some of your pictures as reference photos for painting?
