Water Play

Emma has been asking if Jonathan can play in the pool with her lately and on Sunday we went for a swim.

Jonathan waited very patiently while we got everything ready.  Although, when you can't quite crawl yet, you don't have much choice.

Emma was very excited to be in the pool together.  For about three minutes.  Then she was off to do any number of other things.

Jonathan was quite happy to sit and splash and mouth on anything that floated within reach.

He didn't even mind too much when someone started dumping water on his head.

But as soon as Sis got some more interesting, big kid toys, he was determined to have them.

While Jonathan just sat and played, Emma was off and running, tumbling, and generally being silly.

And then Daddy found this guy, which became one of the highlights of the afternoon.

If only they'd been tired enough to take a real nap, it would have been a perfect, lazy Sunday afternoon...

Swingset Time!

We have been anxiously awaiting spring here in the Goldstein household because, among other things, it meant we were going to get our very own swingset.  With big girl swings.  And a slide.  And a CASTLE!!!

Grandpa Harris came out from Minnesota for Memorial Day weekend and Thursday morning the delivery truck from the lumber yard arrived, just after Emma left for preschool.

When Emma got home from school Daddy and Grandpa Harris had started framing out the tower portion of the swingset.  Emma quickly got to work, supervising and checking out their work.

Thursday night Grandpa Bill arrived and on Friday morning, the whole crew was back at work.  It was a little overcast and drizzly, but our forewoman had the proper attire for the weather.

(Where do you keep your gloves when you're not wearing them?)

She was a task master, keeping everyone working hard.

Checking out the build quality.

"All right everyone, get back to work!"

The swing beam was finally ready, which was the moment Emma was waiting for...

...the inaugural swing!

Jonathan even got to join in the fun.

We missed getting a photo of Emma, wearing her fleece footie jammies and rain boots supervising the grandpas assembling the ladder in the garage Saturday morning while Mommy made muffins.  So you will have to imagine that yourself.

Instead, you can enjoy this shot of Emma's contribution to the ladder construction.

At last, the ladder was ready to be tried out.

Jonathan inspected the slide prior to installation.

And finally, here is the finished product.  We have been outside playing almost everyday and it was fully tested at a recent barbeque by a large contingent of neighborhood kids and friends.

Thanks Grandpas!  We love it!
