Beach Baby

Beach baby, beach baby, there on the sand...

Hey, check it out!  This is me, at the beach!  I went there with Mommy and Daddy not too long ago.  We went to a special place called the Outer Banks and we stayed at a big house with my friends Alex and James and their mommies and daddies.

The house was right across the street from the beach and I went there every day to play.

I had to wear a hat because it was so bright out.

At first I wasn't sure if I liked it when the waves came up, but pretty soon, I got used to them and decided I really liked playing on the beach.

Once I got used to the waves, I really liked when they'd come up and get me wet.

My favorite thing about being on the beach was that I could crawl anywhere I wanted and go as far as I wanted!

Sometimes though, I'd just sit and watch the waves.

Mommy seemed to like that too...

One afternoon, we all went to get some ice cream!

Daddy let me lick his ice cream cone.

It was very yummy and I kept asking for more.

James got to try his mommy's sherbert.

And Alex got some chocolate ice cream.

Another afternoon it was rainy, so instead of playing on the beach, we all went to the aquarium.

There were lots of things to see that were right at my height.

And they even had some animals that you could pet!

Here we all are, watching the fishies swim by.

Wow!  That is one big shark!

Then, on this day, we went to see a light house.

Daddy helped me climb up to the top, but Mommy had to carry herself up.

My most favorite part of the whole trip though was getting to play on the beach.

I loved it soooo much!

Sometimes I collected sea shells in my bucket.

And I got to see really neat things like ghost crabs and this shell from a horseshoe crab.

It was lots of fun getting to play with my friends too.

We played on the beach...

...and in the pool at our house.

Sometimes when it rained we played together inside.

But we didn't always mind the rain because sometimes we'd get to see a double rainbow like this!

I had a great time at the beach.  There were so many new things I got to do and so much time to spend with my friends.

I can't wait to go back again!

Greetings From The Beach!

We are at the beach this week and although we'll have a more detailed post to share after we get home (and one from Minnesota!), we thought you might enjoy seeing how much Emma is enjoying herself here.

Minnesota

My fourth big trip this summer was to go to Minnesota to see where Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Ben live.  Daddy used to live there too, but now he lives with me.

We had to fly on two different planes to get there.

Grandma and Grandpa live in a condo in downtown.  They had good windows for babies, I could stand up and see everything from up there.

On our first day there, we went to the Minnesota State Fair.  The first thing Daddy wanted to do was go to Machinery Hill.  That's where they keep all the tractors and big toys.

We also went to all the barns and saw all the animals.  This really pretty horse let me pet her nose.

This little lamb was born yesterday.  I also saw his twin too!

There were all these little quackers piled up on each other.

And I saw goats too!  Do you know what goats say?  Maa-maa, just like I can!

There were a whole bunch of piglets too.  They ran around saying, "Wee, wee, wee!" just like when Mommy tickles my toes.

It was really hot and I got kind of tired so I took a nap.  While I was sleeping everybody went to get a milkshake.

They also got to see Princess Kay of the Milky Way.

She was having her face carved out of butter, but I didn't get to see her because I was too pooped to participate.

I woke up later when it was time to eat again.  Daddy got some corn on the cob.  They roast it there at the fair and then dip in a great big pot of melted butter.  It was delicious, or so Daddy tells me.  It would seem I don't have enough teeth yet to get to eat it myself...

It was really hot that day and I was getting worn out so Mommy said I could share her Dole Whip with her.  It had juice and frozen pineapple stuff in it.

Ahhhhhh... that's better!

We also went to Grandma and Grandpa's cabin up north.

That is where I got to drive the Mule.

Okay Daddy, first you have to started it up.

Then you have to put it in gear...

Here I am watching Grandpa drive his John Deere.

He took a break to talk to me.

But it was Grandma who let me get up onto it!

They have a boat and we went for a short ride on it.

I said short because I really hated wearing this life jacket.

It was much more relaxing to hang out on the porch with Uncle Ben.

I also liked sitting and looking at the lake.

I even woke Mommy up really early one morning so we could go down and look at the lake at sunrise.

See how pretty it is?  If I hadn't gotten her up, she'd have missed it!

Here I am sitting in Daddy's rocking chair from when he was a little boy!

One day we went to Nisswa so Daddy could have a root beer float at A&W.

After a few days at the cabin, we went back to Minneapolis and did things there.  Here's Daddy and me at Target Field.

You know what Mommy?  I think we're gonna make it after all!

These are the mill ruins by the river.

In the afternoons, we went to happy hour.

I was happy because I got to see the mirror baby.

But my most favorite about Minneapolis was the park where I could go swinging.  It was AWESOME!!!

Daddy would push me and I never wanted him to stop.  No, really.  I cried and got mad when it was time to stop and leave.

Swinging is so much fun, that even Uncle Ben did it with me.

And Grandma too!
